A fundamental requirement of competitive and efficient electricity markets is access to reliable data and performance metrics.
This Electricity Market Information website (EMI) is the Electricity Authority's avenue for publishing data, market performance metrics, and analytical tools to facilitate effective decision-making within the New Zealand electricity industry.
We've published a new report that shows scheduled generation outages by generation type, participant and island.
This report has been produced to better enable the monitoring of scheduled outages through winter 2023 and beyond. In our 9 March 2023 decision paper on 'Driving efficient solutions to promote consumer interests through Winter 2023', we noted that there was a significant level of non-thermal generation on outage during periods the system operator indicated were potential tight supply periods.
The data used in today's report is obtained from the Planned Outage Coordination Protocol (POCP) database. It's an application maintained by the system operator that allows asset owners to provide information on planned outages.
