Paths are as depicted on the nautical chart NZ463 of July 1986 (reprinted October 2004) but detail chart NZ6212 of the west end shows an additional cable and different paths. Both charts depict cables as crossing and even though they are buried this is unlikely! Thus, it is not clear where the cables actually are (nominal or planned course v.s. actual placement?) nor even how many there are, let alone which are in use, which are resting and which are abandoned. However, anyone contemplating salvaging the tons of copper littering the seabed will surely elicit revived claims of ownership.
