A location factor is simply the ratio of two nodal prices, each determined at the same point in time, and is a measure of the proportional difference between the two prices. Location factors are required in the context of the hedge arrangement disclosure regime - see subpart 5 of part 13 of the Code.
In addition to location factors at all points of connection (nodes) since the wholesale market started in October 1996, the file published here also contains some descriptive summary statistics for nodal prices by year. This file is updated annually.

Datasets are collections of files that often contain large volumes of data and are available for immediate download. Dataset users are typically analysts familiar with the electricity industry and have a need to obtain a large set of data or specific data on a regular basis.
Visit the glossary for a list of defined terms used on the website.

Alternative methods are supported to connect to EMI datasets. These methods better facilitate downloading many files or automating regular downloads. See here for more information.
