Wholesale datasets
A GDX file is an input data file to be used with the vSPD model.
GDX files are created from the SPD inputs extracted from an SPD case file. The naming convention for final pricing GDX files is described here. A GDX file is prepared and published for each final pricing SPD case file that is associated with published prices, be they provisional, interim or final. Once the pricing manager has declared prices to be final, all GDX files associated with provisional prices for any given trading day will be removed from EMI datasets and those associated with interim prices will be renamed (i.e. interim prices eventually become final without a new SPD case being generated), leaving a single GDX file per day.
Datasets are collections of files that often contain large volumes of data and are available for immediate download. Dataset users are typically analysts familiar with the electricity industry and have a need to obtain a large set of data or specific data on a regular basis.

Alternative methods are supported to connect to EMI datasets. These methods better facilitate downloading many files or automating regular downloads. See here for more information.
